Part two of our Influencer Marketing trends for 2021 focuses on two more trends we’ll see this year with influencer marketing. They aren’t necessarily more important than the others, just two influencer marketing trends we think deserved their own blog post.
That New-New: AKA Social Platforms & Creator Tools
No one had a glow up in 2020 quite like TikTok – and for good reason. TikTok is predicted to be THE platform for 2021. Many influencers have already jumped on the TikTok train thanks to its natural virality – and brands would be wise to start investing in influencers who put effort into TikTok.
Many influencers who started a TikTok in 2021 quickly gained followers – partly because a TikTok has a longer shelf life than an Instagram post. Videos tend to see an initial spike when first posted, but can continue to grow thanks to TikTok’s algorithm and the explore page.
And let’s not forget Instagram Reels – a breakout star of 2020 and will continue to shine throughout 2021, especially since Instagram is pushing Reels to its users.
Plus, Instagram recently announced updates to its Branded Content capabilities – meaning creators and brands will have an easier time creating, sharing, and amplifying branded content.
More New-New: Highly-Shareable Forms of Influencer Media
Long gone are the days where influencers only share perfectly curated photos on their Instagram. Now, it’s all about new forms of media – like infographics or data-driven analyses.
Spotify hit the nail on the head when they did their “Year in Review” for 2020. Not only were they fun to see, they were personal, data driven, shareable, and custom – basically everything you would want in a new media type.
Another new type of media to hit the influencer world? AI-driven influencer marketing platforms and partnerships. You’ve probably seen CGI (computer-generated image) influencers pop up. Lil Miquela is the most well-known CGI-influencer – racking up sponsorships and brand deals thanks to her 2.8 million followers.
And that’s it for our influencer marketing trends of 2021! Do you have any predictions for influencer marketing this year? Let us know in the comments!
